Christopher Comins - A man who stands up when others can't or won't.

In childhood we'd all play the game called telephone, where we would sit in a circle and tell the person to our right a story line. Each person would then pass along the story until it came back to the original storyteller. It would of course change as it went along, and the end story would be nothing like the original. It would be completely exaggerated, with important parts left out, and parts added in.

As adults, we tend to forget how easy it is for this to happen to us. We read a blog or a news article, picking up bits and pieces here and there, and we form our own idea of the story. We tend to believe the written word and take it for truth, no matter where the source. We form opinions and take a strong stance. All without really knowing what the original facts are.

On May 19th, such an event took place. What would have normally been written off as an unfortunate incident, turned into an aggressive slander campaign to destroy a good man's reputation, business and life. To this day, the State's Attorney's office has still not decided whether to file charges against Christopher Comins. The two dogs involved are alive and have recovered from their injuries. The man whose neglect caused all of this, remains persistent in fueling the fires against Christopher Comins. This has resulted in numerous death threats against both Christopher Comins and his family.

Posted in this blog are several items of interest including the incident report from the Orange County Sherriff's Department, letters and other important facts.

We've set up a second blog with more research, facts and links to information that supports Chris and the actions he took in May.  Please visit -

It's time to set the record straight!

Where is the praise and thank you Chris Comins deserves for stepping in and being the courageous hero that helped a fellow man?
I know Chris personally and can tell you he is one of the most caring and generous men you will ever meet. Some of the happiest moments for Chris are when he is doing for others. Chris is also a animal lover and would NEVER intentionally do harm or hurt another.
If others had the same heart and courage as Chris has this world would be a better place.
Let’s stop punishing the people that take action when necessary because one day it could be you needing help.
I know his intentions were for the best so please help bring this situation back to reality, Chris has already incurred too much heartache!
Thank you CHRIS for stepping up to help others and being the GREAT MAN you are!!

Where do I begin? Chris and his company, Custom Fab have been an amazing part of my life. His generosity to his employees and those around him astounds me on almost a daily basis.
The outcome of the situation with the dogs was unfortunate. That is stating the obvious. Sadly, that is what happens when a dog owner is unresponsible and careless. To me, that is the bottom line... Most would not have been as brave as Chris to stand up and take action to help a freind in need. There is no doubt in my mind that his intentions were pure and he was doing what was right at the time. He shouldn't have to defend himself or his character. He and his family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Finally the truth.

Finally, the truth! I am sick of all the negative comments about how Chris Comins handled this situation. Someone had to step up and do something. Thank God someone like Chris was there to take control of this bad situation. While so many people stood on the sidelines, watching like this was a reality tv show, waiting for some action, for a calf to get attacked. Why else would so many people stay around! Certainly not to see dogs play in a field. The on-lookers thought they were wolves. The on- lookers were waiting for action, an attack, drama!

Chris Comins is the only one who stepped up, putting himself in harms way to try and help the inoccent cows and calves. He could have been trampled, mauled and seriously hurt! Chris is a man who was not thinking of himself, but of the welfare of the animals. Chris should not be charged with anything!
Chris Comins should be thanked!

The owner of the dogs Chris Butler needs to
take responsibility for his dogs running loose and threatening these cows and calfs for hours! Chris Butler is 100% resonsible for all of this. Mr. Butler needs to stop whinning, exagerating, lying, and trying to slander Chris Comins and take responsibility.

CHRIS COMINS STOOD UP WHEN OTHERS WOULDN'T AND I SUPPORT HIM 100%

THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE!!! FINALLY THE TRUTH!
I SUPPORT YOU CHRISTOPHER COMINS, YOU STEPPED UP AND HELPED OUT WHEN NO ONE ELSE WOULD!

Chris Comins I support you!

Chris should not be charged with anything. The person who owns the dogs is the one who needs to be charged!

Anonymous said...

Thanks Chris for being a man. The dog owner needs to be held accountable for his lack of control over his own animals. The cows & calfs needed someone and you kept them safe. God Bless You and your family!

The truch shall set you free! This is such a wise statement. Chris Butler needs to stop lying & diverting the issue off of himself and take responsibility for his lack
of responsibility! Mr. Butler the truth is that you should have had control over your animals, that you need to stop changing your story around and accept responsibility for what you and your dogs have caused!

Mr. Comins I commend you for your brave and selfless act of kindness towards the cows and calfs that needed someone to step up and help them!

The Truth always prevails!

Those who help others in needs are the Angels on earth and we need alot more Angels! Thanks Chris

I was happy to see this site and the truth in black & white. This Chris Butler needs to stop trying to slander Chris Comins and either shut up or take responsibility for his two dogs being in that field in the first place.

The crowd that was gathered needs to take a long look in the mirror. When they thought they were wolves the crowd wanted someone to do something, anyone other than themselves! Then just because the crowd found out they were dogs, they turned on Chris Comins like pitbulls! While they all stood by doing nothing but watching and judging.

THOSE WHO LIVE IN GLASS HOUSES SHOULD NOT THROW STONES!

It does not matter that they were dogs instead of wolves they had no business in the fenced in field bothering those animals! These dogs had no business loose and unattended.

No one in that crowd had the guts to do anything other than stand by like cowards waiting for someone else to help out.

They should have been thanking Chris Comins for being the only one who had the guts to get involved and do something to stop these dogs from injuring these cows and calfs!

Chris Comins is a brave man who thought of those animals before he ever thought of his own safety or himself!

No one should be judging him! NO ONE

Chris Butler needs to be held accountable and held responsible for having no control over his animals. Two words....... LEASH LAW!

Chris Comins was the only person who got involved and did the right thing.

He should not be charged, harrassed or slandered.

Anonymous said...

Chris you did a good thing trying to help those animals! The people who are nasty and throwing comments around should not speak about what they do not know!

Florida law requires dogs to be kept restrained. So what penalty will Chris Butler be receiving.

Florida law allows you to defend your property so people need to leave Chris Comins alone.

The world would be a better place with more people in it like Chris Comins!

Chris has been a close personal friend of mine for ten years. I've always admired his ability to get things done. He's the one man that everyone can count on in their time of need.

Throughout the years, I have seen him help others time and time again, whether it's; an employee who needed assistance during a family crisis, a friend who needed temporary housing for a year after the hurricanes of 2004, clients who needed help solving an issue from someone else's blunder or offering help to a complete stranger who's car has broken down. He's the one that's been there to help.

Chris has also given freely of his own money and resources for worthy community causes. A few of which have been; helping out the local High School in raising funds, arranging relief and transports for Hurricane Katrina victims, supporting the local prison ministry, establishing an employee Bible Study, and funding a luncheon for 140 people to raise money for cancer. All done without the limelight.

So in May, when scores of people lined up along the side of a pasture screaming for someone to save the baby calves from the wolves, when the landowner asked for his help, when a frantic cattle owner asked him to shoot the wolves, Chris stepped up to the plate and took the necessary actions to help. He alone put himself in harms way to save the baby calves.

None of the other 30 or 40 "spectators" offered to do anything about it. None of Butler's "friends or neighbors" called the dogs, or jumped the fence to retrieve them or chase them off. No one else had the guts to get involved or do anything to help. No one.

It is not in Chris's nature to just sit back and do nothing when others need help. This circumstance is no different. It wasn't easy for him to do, it's not something that he wanted to do, it's something that he HAD to do!

Chris, ignore the misinformed naysayers, who have all bought into the lies dished out by Butler.

Know that you've got a lot of good people behind you!!!

The facts speak for themselves! Chris you were very brave to step in and help when no one else would!

Anonymous said...

Chris my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. It is shocking and appauling how people are judging you. Perfect strangers judging you while so many did nothing!

The dog owner is 100% responsible for his pets and he is not assuming any responsibility. Dogs need to be restrained not let loose.

I keep you and yours in my thoughts and prayers Chris. Do not let these strangers with foul mouths get you down.

Chris stepped in and did something to help when no one else wood. The facts speak for themselves.

Anonymous said...

Finally a site with facts and not emotional brow beating! This is not a case of animal cruelty by Mr. Comins it is a case of animal neglet by Mr. Butler! Read the facts!

Anonymous said...

Chris stepped in to help and did something when no one else would. The Facts speak for themselves.

Anonymous said...

Chris keep your chin up and your head high. No one would help but you. So for those who have nothing nice to say now, well they should say nothing.

You helped when no one else would!

CHRIS, THOSE WHO CAN.... DO
THOSE WHO CAN'T STAND OFF TO THE SIDE & COMPLAIN!
IGNORE THE NAYSAYERS WHO CAN'T DO & BE AT PEACE WITH YOURSELF FOR HELPING WHEN OTHERS WOULDN'T!

Anonymous said...

Chris I am hopeful this will not result in any charges. You did nothing wrong other than try and stop a tradgety.

Anonymous said...

All anyone needs to do is read the reports. The video only shows the end few minuites of an event that went on for hours!

If people are made to fear
repercussions when they try and help, no one will ever help!

Anonymous said...

Chris keep a stiff upper lip! You did a great thing helping the way you did. Do not let this burden your life! Life is to short for that.

Anonymous said...

People need to look at the facts. These dogs were loose and far from home. They posed a threat and Chris Comins stopped that threat!

The owner of these dogs should take responsibility for his lack of control of them and stop his whinning!

Mr. Comins should be commended for helping the cows and calfs.

Anonymous said...

THANK GOD THERE ARE STILL PEOPLE WILLING TO STAND UP FOR OTHERS NO MATTER WHAT IT WILL COST THEMSELVES!

Anonymous said...

The dogs should not have been loose. They could have caused a tragety, a traffic accident, bitten someone, attacked a child. But they were stopped before they caused any harm. They had no business on the private property bothering those cows and calfs.

Someone had to do something! Thank God Chris was there and had the guts to help out.

No one has the right to judge or critize him, no one!

Anonymous said...

CHRIS IS A GOOD MAN & I SUPPORT HIM!

Anonymous said...

Chris I think you did a good thing helping the animals in the pasture. Do not listen to the negative nasty people on line who judge what they do not know!

Anonymous said...

Life is short and everyone should be thankful when someone helps out because in todays world it is just not often enough!

Hopefully this does not stop other individuals from stepping in a helping someone in need because of fear of being mistreated afterwards! The way Chris Comins has been treated is not acceptable and should not be tolerated.

Anonymous said...

People need to keep their dogs in a fenced in yard or tied up. I do not buy the whole "they got away" theory. Mr. Butler needs to take responsibility for his dogs! If they were not running loose none of this would have happened.

Thank God Mr. Comins stepped in and helped!

Anonymous said...

WE NEED MORE PEOPLE TO STAND UP, STEP IN AND HELP THOSE IN NEED! SO MANY STAND BY ON THE SIDE LINES AND DO NOTHING!

Anonymous said...

Chris we need more people like you! You did a brave thing helping the cows and people need to see that you were trying to stop a tragedy and nothing else!

Anonymous said...

Chris is a great guy who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. People should not judge, they do not know him. He is a good man!

ITS ABOUT TIME THAT THE TRUTH IS ON THE NET! JUST THE FACTS! SOME OF THESE OTHER SITES ARE ALOT OF PEOPLE JUDGING A SITUATION ON ONLY THE SHORT VIDEO! NO INFORMATION LEADING UP TO THE SHOOTING, NO POLICE REPORT, NO FACTS. FINALLY A SITE WITH THE FACTS AND WITH OUT THE SLANDEROUS PEOPLE SLINGING MUD WHEN THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY FACTS.

WHEN PEOPLE CAN WATCH A SHORT VIDEO AND MAKE SUCH STRONG ASSUMPTIONS IT MAKES YOU WONDER WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE. CAN THESE PEOPLE READ! I HOPE THEY READ THE FACTS ON YOUR SITE.

HOPE THIS SITUATION IS RESOLVED SOON AND MR. BULTER LEARNS ABOUT LEASH LAWS!

Anonymous said...

This site has been very informative. All of the people who just watched the short video clip need to read this site entirely! You can not watch a few minuite video and base your opinion on the entire case just by the video. The facts are the police report and the days worth of events leading up to the actual shooting. Your sites taught me a lot about this situation, very very informative.

Mr. Comins I am an animal lover and am 100% against animal abuse. I run a shelter for homeless animals and the animals are my life. The video did not make me happy, then I read everything.

Mr. Comins I support you 100%. I applaud your bravery and courage. I have learned not to judge on video alone. I am guilty of that and learned. I hope others do the same.

I am hopeful that all of the people going after you with such a vengance STOP NOW!

GOD BLESS YOU & YOURS!

People do not have the right to judge others.
Leave this man who tried to help out alone and move on. Maybe all the people sitting on their computers complaining could donate some of their time to an animal in need.

Why not go after people who burn, beat, neglect and stave animals. Not a man trying to help out calfs!

Anonymous said...

They have Leash Laws for a reason. Why is Butler not in any trouble for letting these dogs run? Why is not one single person complaining about that. Who is going after him?

Anonymous said...

Chris Comins is a gentle man who would never intentially harm anyone or anything. Chris was trying to do the right thing and help out the calfs, end of story!

Mr Bulter needs to accept responsiblity for letting his dogs run the streets and fence his yard!

Anonymous said...

Is Mr. Butler going to get charged with animal neglect or failure to restrain his animals? How about the fact that there are leash laws? Why is no one talking about Mr. Bulters inability to control his dogs?

What about the calls that went unanswered all day?
Why is everyone all over Chris Comins and no one else in this situation, I do not understand This seems like a witch hunt. This Comins guy was not being cruel he was protecting the farm animals from these wolves-dogs! People need to move on!

Anonymous said...

Finally a site that has the information about what really happened. People should not judge others and should not form opinions on a subject until they have all the facts.

Anonymous said...

Chris Comins did not have poor intentions! He was trying to help the farm animals and that is that! He was not abusing animals when he shot the dogs. He was protecting the livestock. If the dogs would have been on a leash and controlled by there owner none of this would have happened. This is pure irresponsibility on Mr. Butlers part.

Mr. Comins I support you!

Anonymous said...

I also believe that the responsibility lies with the owner of the dogs. They should have been restrained. Leash laws are there for the protection of the animals as well as others. Choosing to ignore these laws and then blaming someone else when something goes wrong. How Chicken Sh-t can you be. Mr. Butler should not be allowed to have animals !!!! Way to step up Chris !!!!

Anonymous said...

People should be thankful that Mr. Comins stepped in and did something before something aweful happened to the calves and cows. This is why there are leash laws.

Anonymous said...

Their are leash laws so that these situations do not happen. Is Mr. Butler going to be charged with neglect? People should leave Mr. Comins alone. He is the only one with any sense here. I am glad no one was hurt. Mr. Comins was very brave.

Anonymous said...

Chris you did the right thing! It is a shame that others judge when they do not know the entire situation.
